Owner & Creator

Why this exists

Ajay Thakral built The Elderly Care Companion after helping care for his own grandmother. That experience showed him how much a family is quietly asked to carry — which medication was given and when, what the doctor said last month, which relative needs updating, what she ate today, whether she slept — and how little of it any one tool actually helps with. Most of it lives in someone's head, on a sticky note, or in a group chat nobody can search.

He is not a professional caregiver, and this was never a business. He is a young person who saw a problem worth solving up close, and decided to build the thing he wished his own family had been handed on day one.

What he set out to make

Not another app to check. Something that takes work off a family instead of adding to it — where the medication list, the planner, the doctor notes, the photos worth keeping, and the relatives who need updating all live in one place, and where nobody has to be technical to use it.

The Elderly Care Companion is free and always will be. It carries no ads, sells no data, and answers to no investors — only to the families using it.

What guides it

The principles behind the project

Built from experience, not a business plan

Every tool here exists because it answered a real question that came up while caring for someone.

Made for people who aren't technical

Large text, plain language, and generous tap targets — because the people who need this most shouldn't have to fight the interface.

Private, and free to stay that way

No ads, no data selling, no investors asking for either. Families share deeply personal things here, and that stays theirs.

Free, always

Built for your family too

If any of this sounds like your situation, it costs nothing to start. That was the whole point.
